Mission Statement

From the Statute of the Università Iuav di Venezia:
   “[…] The University is the place where to elaborate, to spread and to critically learn the knowledge. Systematically combining education and research, organizes and develops scientific research, guarantees and coordinates the development of the didactic activity aimed toward the cultural and professional training of the students. The University develops and promotes the contamination of experiences through the integration of education and research activities and promotes the interaction of cultures”
 

International Role

Università Iuav di Venezia born in 1926 as Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia (IUAV), mainly related with architecture education and research. Since the beginning, thanks to the high education quality and unique location, IUAV has been recognized as an interesting international hub. Today IUAV maintain international relationship with Universities and Institution over the world. 70 at extra-european level and 200 at european level. 
Each year, WAVE (Workshop di Architettura di Venezia), an international teaching event is run with more than 1500 international students. In 2001 born the first bachelor level course of industrial design and multimedia, then in 2004 was created the first Master level course of Product and Communication Design. In 2017 was activated the Interior Design Course. Furthermore, is active a PhD in Design Sciences. Regarding Erasmus program, more than 90 students of Design (incoming and outgoing) has been exchanged at least 1 semester in the last 2 years. In the same period, 26 international internships have been done.

Design Teaching staff collaborated with colleagues from all around the world in the fields of education and research. Some examples of partnership:

National Role

The Design bachelor and master courses of the Università Iuav di Venezia have a prominent role in the national context and are respectively classified at the first (bachelor) and second (master) place in the national ranking. The same courses are strictly connected with a strategic economic and industrial environment like the North-East of Italy.
